We appreciate your patience as we await the decisions from Basketball Victoria and the McKinnon Basketball Association regarding the proposed return to basketball.
At this stage basketball will not be resuming until Term 3 at the earliest. Any Winter season will look very different and is expected to be a shortened and modified version.
As a result, Basketball Victoria has advised that it will extend the licence fee period to ensure that everyone who paid their $25 annual fee will get the full 365 days’ value. At this stage this fee will only be refunded for those people who can demonstrate financial hardship.
We would like to present you with two options regarding your paid Winter 2020 season fees:
Rollover (in full or in part) to Summer 2020 Season
We anticipate that our next full season will be Summer 2020/2021 in Term 4. Unless you advise us that you would like a refund (see below), we will roll over your payment for this season and apply it towards the Summer 2020/21 Season fees. The amount to be rolled over will depend on what the revised fees will be for the Winter season (i.e. we will use your paid Winter 2020 season fee towards any revised fees for that season and the balance will be applied towards your Summer 2020/21 fees).
If you would like a full refund of your fees (not including the $25 Basketball Victoria annual licence fee) please email Jason at firstname.lastname@example.org by close of business on 21 April 2020. The Club is able to apply to Basketball Victoria for bulk refunds (to be administered by PlayHQ) by 24 April 2020, so it is important that you let us know by 21 April if you would like a refund so that we can put together the necessary information to meet Basketball Victoria’s deadline. If you request a refund after 21 April then the amount refunded will be net of the transaction costs paid by the Club (which are as much as $10 per player) when you paid your fees.
While Moorabbin Magic is fortunate that it is in a great financial position and capable of riding out the COVID-19 crisis, the Club’s preference is that you rollover your fees. Doing so will mean the Club will avoid unnecessary transaction fees that we would prefer to put towards player development. However, we also appreciate that some families would prefer a refund and we are more than happy to arrange this.
